Plenty of free generators do not put your link in the code at all. They put their own link in the middle, redirecting to you. That sounds harmless right up until the day that service shuts down or starts charging a subscription, and every menu you printed suddenly leads nowhere. The code here contains your address directly, so it depends on nobody, including me.

- Can the code expire or be switched off?
- No. The code generated here contains your link directly and does not pass through any intermediary service. Nobody can disable it and it does not depend on this site to keep working. Many free generators do the opposite: they place their own link in the middle, and if that service disappears, every printed code becomes useless.
- Is what I type saved anywhere?
- It goes nowhere. The code is generated in your browser, and the text is never sent to any server, including mine.
- PNG or SVG?
- SVG for anything printed: it stays sharp at any size, from a table card to a banner. PNG for screens, WhatsApp or social media.
- How large should it be printed?
- The practical rule: at least 2 cm across for something held in the hand, and a minimum of one tenth of the scanning distance for posters. A 3 cm code scans comfortably from around 30 cm.
- Why will my code not scan?
- The three usual causes: it is printed too small, it is placed on a dark or coloured background instead of white, or a logo is partly covering it. Always test the printed code with a phone before ordering a thousand of them.
